Perhaps it’s the quiet invitation to enter, or conversely, the booming message to Stay Out, either way, doors awaken my curiosity. “What’s behind this doorway, where will it lead?” I just want to know.
On a recent trip to Havana, Cuba I was captivated by the different styles and colors of their quaint charming doors lining the cobblestone streets. I imagined life and activity with family and friends happening in this once pristine and picturesque seaport. I wanted to walk inside.
Castles and cathedrals with looming doors reaching 20 feet high, were also numerous. They were awe-inspiring, but I felt small and vulnerable next to them. I wasn’t too eager to walk through these doors.
Doors are like that . . . Open doors. Closed doors. Blocked Doors. Locked Doors.
We will experience many of these “doors” throughout our life. Some doors you stand before will seem inviting and exciting. While others, well, not so much. You may feel small, scared, inadequate, but consider this, God is the one who ordains the doors of our life. If it’s an opened door, God will give you the skill, ability, and anointing you need to walk through it. If it’s a closed door God may be saying no or not yet. If that’s the case be assured, He’ll give you the peace you need to wait on Him to guide your next step.
A blocked door will take persistence and even some warfare prayers, but if it’s meant to be that door will open. Don’t give up faith!
Some doors are locked, you’re not sure what steps and actions you need to take. But be faithful and take small steps. Have you ever heard that big doors swing open on small hinges? It’s true. Your consistency in doing the small things not only makes a difference, it makes all the difference!
So today, think about your next step. What door does God have for you? Maybe it’s time you, like me, get curious!
