Have you ever heard the voice deep down inside of your being that whispers, “I believe I’m made for something great”, or “I long for more, I want my life to count?”
I imagine each one of us have heard those soft utterings at sometime in our life. That voice is our significance talking, calling out to move us into our purpose. It’s speaking because God has placed the gene of significance, greatness, and purpose within us. He intended that one day we would awaken to our true selves, as we listen to the cry within.
But all too often, our significance gets muffled and locked inside of us. Our purpose wants to escape and come forth, but it’s trapped under a pile of limiting beliefs that have tackled it to the ground like a pack of defensive ends in a football game.
It’s time to let significance speak.
Lately, I’ve felt a stirring deep in my soul that’s crying out to God. I’m not sure what it’s saying yet, but I know it has to do with purpose and destiny. I recognize the process: A stirring begins, a cry arises, prayers become focused, a longing emerges, and God births another piece of my calling and purpose. It’s not always short and simplistic when the progression begins, but instinctively, I know I must lean into the unknown to release the new thing God wants to do.
When this holy agitation begins in my spirit, I don’t know exactly what to do, so I begin to pray and ask God to put his dream for my life into my heart, and reveal his plan. Then I prepare, knowing that God’s Holy Spirit is speaking to my spirit—the house of my calling and purpose—and that this conversation will bring an interruption of status quo.
I Corinthians 2:9-11 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.
No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.
The voice of significance is there to remind you who you are. It’s God’s way of saying;
“Hey, you have no clue what I want to do with your life! Wake-Up. Listen to the longings of your soul. It’s a clue to the genes of greatness I’ve placed within you.”
If God has such amazing things for his people – you and me – then why are so many of us living short of what he has prepared? Is it because we are pressed-down by a barrage of limiting beliefs? Isn’t it true that many of us are gripped with fears of failure, insecurities, and lies, so much so, that the thought of accomplishing our heart’s secret goals and dreams seems like a fantasy? Too many times, we shame our inner voice instead of understanding it’s God at work in our lives.
Is your significance whispering to your heart?
Perhaps it’s time to listen to the inner musings of your soul and see what is God speaking to you.
