I understand that changing the way you think will take some practice, after all by the time you were 8 years old, psychologists predict you’ve heard the word No over 40,000 times, while hearing the word Yes, only 5000. You’ve been wired for NO, but be encouraged – in the process of transforming and reprogramming your mind, you’ll get re-wired.
God’s Word tells us to be transformed by the “renewing of our mind.” Our mind must undergo a metamorphosis, a change. This change happens by the power of the Holy Spirit and our purposeful decision to change what we focus on.
The power of this truth is based on God’s Word; The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 to “think on these things.” What things? What does God want us to focus on? Whatever is true, pure, respectable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy. I call these Super-thoughts because they lift us up above our painful and confusing world, strengthen our inner person, and fill our hearts with God’s peace. As we focus our thoughts this way, we will rise above average, and gain an incredible outlook on life that’s infused with God’s energy and motivation. Your thoughts will literally pull you like a magnet toward your destiny.
Think of it this way; what you think about you bring about.
Here’s an illustration of what I’m talking about.
At the age of 17, I was involved in a head-on collision. A drunk driver, also under the influence of marijuana, careened directly into me. The impact of his car smashed the firewall of my car all the way to my driver’s wheel, crushing my front- end like a tin can.
Looking back, I realize God worked an amazing miracle – I walked out of that crash alive. Later, as I healed, I learned how the inebriated driver had locked his eyes onto my headlights, and as a result – though we were the only two cars on the entire, lonely road – he crashed into my car square on.
His fixed gaze on my car drew himself exactly to the target of his focus – me!
In the same way, our focus determines our results. I’ll say it again, what we think about, we will bring about.
So what are you focused on?
Do you believe God has a YES in-store for you? I’m convinced he does.
So practice these tips as you prepare to enter your future:
1. See your desired future
God’s Word says that without a vision the people will perish. (Proverbs 29:18.) Get a vision of what God wants to do through you and for you and lock into it—even when circumstances don’t look positive.
2. Find your promise in the Bible
Once you know how God wants to work through you, Ask Him to reveal his promise to you through the scripture. Stand on the Word and focus on its veracity.
3. Speak in alignment with your vision
If you are believing for a promotion, don’t focus on why you’re not good enough, and whatever you do, never release those words out of your mouth. Instead focus on your ability through Christ and say Phil.4:13 “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”
Are you ready to receive your YES from God? Then focus in on the Super-Thoughts and go get it!
